Following a “how-to” video on YouTube, an 18-year-old tried a so-called “gender-affirming” surgery on himself at home. However, the biological female from New Zealand received immediate hospitalization after attempting a self-mastectomy at home.
According to the article, “Patient Z” was apparently waiting for surgery to change his gender from female to male. The patient, however, apparently became impatient with the length of time it took to get a public recommendation for gender-affirming surgery.
In the New Zealand Medical Journal, a new study reports that an 18-year-old biological female tried to have her left breast mastectomy. According to the journal, the “severe psychological stress of having breasts during an approaching pool party” was the reason for the self-surgery.
The patient “showed premeditation by watching an instructional video on YouTube, gathering the appropriate instruments, labeling the incision, and contemplating pain management and bleeding control,” according to the study’s medical team.
After attempting a self-attempted left mastectomy, Patient Z sought medical assistance for several hours, citing fears about potentially injuring a nerve. However, Patient Z quickly expressed concerns about the procedure.
The “acute mental health team” decided that the woman “had the ability to consent” to gender-affirming surgery.
According to reports, medical professionals carried out a “symmetrizing right mastectomy and a complete left mastectomy.”
However the journal also acknowledged that Patient Z was receiving testosterone treatment while dealing with a “background of gender dysphoria.”
The publication acknowledged that gender dysphoria is a major source of pain for transgender individuals. It is commonly known that transgender people face greater rates of violence, bullying, and discrimination than the general population.”
The publication also stated that research that examined patients before they underwent gender-affirming surgery found that a sizable percentage of them had untreated anxiety and sadness. Even though not all transgender people desire gender-affirming surgery, those who do ought to have access to it so they can express their true gender identity.”
I am fully supportive of an individual over 18 who thinks God made a mistake and wants to change their sex (Chromosome X will always be an X) though outward be changed, where younger than 18 should not be allowed .

I find it alarming that so many want to change the gender they are given from our Creator, from birth. They should think long and hard before even thinking of doing such things and especially seek out those who are struggling to find the happiness they thought the surgery was going to give them. Many want their old selves back and regret the decisions they made to make the changes. Some will never be parents….or find mates that understand and accept what they did. Some enjoyed it at the start, but it soon became “old.” Real happiness can be found in the person o Jesus Christ….I suggest they seek Him first and find out how much He loves them….and listen to the words of encouragement that is found in God’s Word. True freedom and happiness CAN be found. “Be content in such things that you have, for He has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
How is it possible that an “acute mental health team” determined that this patient had the capacity to consent. Self mutilation, despite preparation is a mental health issue. The patient had anxiety and impatience about an upcoming pool party???? How is that not a mental health crisis? Why not just not attend the pool party- what is wrong with this entire mental health team?? This patient should have had appropriate medical treatment for the immediate physical problem and then been involuntarily committed for mental health treatment.
