Recently, a sheriff of Ohio said that illegal immigrants should live with Americans who have Harris-Walz yard signs.
Some people in Portage County are upset with Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski for what he wrote on his personal campaign account over the weekend.
He wrote, “When people ask me… What will happen if the Hyena that Flip-Flops and Laughs Wins?? I tell you to write down all the addresses of the people whose yards had her signs!”
“Oh yeah… when the illegal “locusts” (which she supports!) need a place to live… We’ll already have the names of their new families, who helped them get here!” he said.
The sheriff’s post also talked about how the immigration problem is affecting Aurora, Colorado, and Springfield, Ohio. The Springfield area, which used to have 60,000 people living there, has gained about 20,000 Haitian newcomers. Numerous reports say that the newcomers have caused more car crashes and higher house prices in the town.
Zuchowski is running for re-election right now. He has been sheriff since 2021.
The comments made by Zuchowski were funny to some people in Portage County, but others reported them to the sheriff, accusing him of voting harassment, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
One neighbor told the news source that he had written a report to the Department of Justice, saying, “That kind of doxxing, agreed upon by a man with a gun and a badge, is downright scary.”
Reports say that other people in the area have asked the Ohio Secretary of State to look into what the sheriff said.
The Akron Beacon Journal heard from someone else in the area who said, “That Facebook post was meant to harass, scare, and silence free speech.”
According to reports, Zuchowski’s opponent, Jon Barber, also said that the sheriff’s words were an attempt to scare voters.
Barber said, “Now it’s like you’re choosing who to protect and who not to protect if they don’t agree with you.”
“I believe the sheriff’s comment is a bit of artistic license getting to the main idea that elections have consequences,” the Portage County Republican Party told the news source about their support for Zuchowski.
“The people who vote for our sheriffs choose who they will represent,” a spokesman said. “Bruce Zuchowski will represent Portage.”
