Reminder: Transgenders are Still Employed in the U.S. Military

If you only get your news from social media or John Oliver, chances are you don’t see a whole lot wrong with this image. But the reality is that, despite President Donald Trump’s statements on the matter on Twitter, the U.S. Armed Forces have announced no actual plan to remove transgender people from their payroll.

This image, pulled from the dark corners of Reddit, plays with the idea that diversity and strength within the military are synonymous. It also takes jabs at Trump’s Twitter tirade on transgenders serving in the military, which contrary to popular belief, resulted in no changes whatsoever in Pentagon policy.

“We had a guy who could shoot it down,” a cartoon adviser tells Trump as a North Korean nuke descends upon Washington, D.C. “But he was transgendered.”

Dismissing the idea that Pyongyang has the technology to reach America’s west coast, this comic contains not one shred of actual truth.

It is true, however, that military commanders have been questioning the role of transgenders in the military for a long time. Defense Secretary Mattis has ordered a 6-month study on the matter, so we’ll have to wait for his assessment to make any factual analysis.

Of course, that didn’t stop intellectually devoid comics like this from gaining traction.
