It’s a lie former President Barack Obama loved to tell everyone after every mass shooting event, and it’s a talking point the Democrats seem to have no intention of abandoning.
This image was shared years ago while Obama was still in office. Obviously, it’s a tweet by the Onion, a company which produces intentionally satirical content. However, the scores of social media users sharing it in the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas which claimed the lives of over 50 people are doing so with no sense of irony.
Contrary to what then-President Obama and his modern day followers love to point out, the United States is not the only developed country where mass shootings and killings take place. According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, America barely breaks into the top 10.
“There were 55 percent more casualties per capita from mass public shootings in [the European Union] than U.S. from 2009-15,” the authors write.
At the top of the list, reported by TheJackNews.com, Macedonia, Albania, and Serbia top the list for most frequent mass shooting events per capita. Also included on the list are so-called social democratic utopias like Norway and Finland — places which aren’t exactly known for their gun cultures.
