Millennials Claim to Have PTSD from 2016 Election

Calling liberal millennials “snowflakes” seems to have fallen out of favor these days, which is unfortunate because it really is the perfect way to describe them sometimes. This is one of those times.

According to the Daily Mail, 25 percent of millennials surveyed reported having post-traumatic stress syndrome-like symptoms ever since President Donald Trump was elected in 2016. Now, to be sure, the election was one of the most politically divisive times in modern American history. It is perfectly normal to associate feelings of stress with it. However, when you compare this stress with what people who are actually diagnosed with PTSD have dealt with, well…it’s not exactly the same.

PTSD has had many names, but the disorder is as old as conflict itself. From combat fatigue, to shell shock, to whatever else, it is associated with surviving deeply troubling events or experiences. Apparently, seeing your friends being gunned down is now in the same category as not having your political views endorsed by an election.

Many of us still think of “millennials” as college students, but this isn’t necessarily the case anymore. Most millennials are in their late 20s or early 30s at this point, which is hard to imagine considering stories like this.
