Medicaid Cuts Reveal Planned Parenthood’s True Priorities

A big claim is going around the internet: that Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin has been “forced” to stop doing abortions because of a new law cutting off Medicaid money. Supporters of abortion rights are calling it an attack on “reproductive health.” But if you dig a little deeper, the story tells us something very different. In fact, it may prove what many pro-life Americans have been saying for years — that Planned Parenthood relies heavily on taxpayer money to keep its abortion business running.

Let’s break it down.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin announced that starting October 1, 2025, they would pause all abortion appointments. Why? Because of the new “Big Beautiful Bill” signed into law earlier this year. This bill blocks Medicaid funds — which come from federal and state taxpayers — from going to organizations that perform abortions. That includes Planned Parenthood.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Planned Parenthood says they are stopping abortions so they can keep serving Medicaid patients with other services. But if abortions were really just a tiny part of what they do, why would losing Medicaid money force them to stop doing them?

That question leads us to one of the biggest myths about Planned Parenthood — the idea that abortion makes up only a small part of what they do. This is a talking point we hear all the time from abortion rights groups and even from some media outlets. But the numbers tell a different story.

Planned Parenthood’s own 2023–2024 annual report says they performed 402,230 abortions that year. In comparison, they only made 2,148 adoption referrals and provided just over 7,000 prenatal services. That means for every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood performed nearly 187 abortions. For every prenatal care case, there were nearly 57 abortions.

In Wisconsin alone, Planned Parenthood performed 3,727 abortions between October 2023 and the end of September 2024. That’s not a small number. And when they stopped abortion services right after the Medicaid funds were cut off, it became pretty clear: abortion isn’t just a side business for Planned Parenthood. It’s a major part of what they do.

There’s another trick Planned Parenthood uses to make abortion seem like a small part of their work. They count every little thing as a “service.” For example, if a woman comes in for an abortion and also gets an ultrasound, a birth control pill, and a condom, that’s counted as four services — even though it was all part of one visit. This way, they make it seem like they’re doing thousands of things other than abortion. But it’s misleading.

On top of that, Planned Parenthood isn’t just in the business of providing health care. They’re also pushing an agenda. A recent report from *National Review* showed that Planned Parenthood offers online sex-ed classes for middle and high school students — and these classes don’t just talk about biology. They teach kids how to become pro-abortion activists, even encouraging them to donate money to abortion causes. They also tell students to avoid crisis pregnancy centers — places that offer help to pregnant women who want to keep their babies — claiming those centers give “misinformation.”

So, what’s the real story here?

Planned Parenthood and its supporters want you to believe that abortion is just a small, tiny part of their work and that they don’t need government money to do it. But when Wisconsin stopped sending them Medicaid dollars, they immediately stopped doing abortions. That’s not a coincidence. It’s a confession.

The truth is, Planned Parenthood is not just a health clinic. It’s an abortion business that has been propped up by taxpayer money for years. The Big Beautiful Bill in Wisconsin didn’t shut down women’s health care. It just stopped forcing taxpayers to fund abortions. With that money gone, Planned Parenthood had to make a choice — and they chose to stop abortions, proving just how central those procedures are to their mission.

This should be a wake-up call. For years, Americans were told one thing. Now we’re seeing the truth in plain sight.
