Beginning in 2012 with the shooting of Trayvon Martin and several other highly politicized deaths of black men at the hands of law enforcement, the political left doubled down on their derision for police.
Since that time, we’ve seen the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement and other offshoots. Cops, we have been told time and time again, are complicit with so-called institutional racism, and cannot be trusted to enforce the law unilaterally.
Now, it seems as the though the left has completely changed its tune. In the wake of a slew of publicized mass shootings, the left is now calling for the same people they’ve been demonizing for years to be the only individuals in our society to carry firearms.
If you’re scratching your head over this, you’re not alone. From a pro-Second Amendment perspective, we can almost understand where the left was coming from with cases like Philando Castile, who was killed by a police officer after informing him that he was (legally) carrying a firearm. But, it’s now clear what the real agenda is.
If police officers truly are the trigger happy monsters the left has historically claimed them to be, why on earth would we want them to be the only ones armed? It’s almost as if this has nothing to do with guns at all, and everything to do with identity politics and control…
