This week, a video from 2007 of Kamala Harris threatening to break into law-abiding Americans’ homes and inspect their guns without them knowing came back online.
This raised new concerns about what will happen to the Second and Fourth Amendment rights if Harris gets what she wants.
At a press meeting in San Francisco, at the time, Mayor Gavin Newsom and District Attorney Kamala Harris talked about gun control laws they had worked on together.
Harris said that “some kid” might steal a legally bought gun, which was a good reason for the government to invade the privacy and rights of law-abiding gun owners.
Harris said, “We’re going to expect everyone in the neighborhood to behave responsibly. The fact that you legally have a gun in your locked home does not mean that we won’t go into that home and see if you’re performing your duties in a responsible and safe manner.”
“This is it; we can’t fight it.”
Harris made it clear that she and Newsom wanted to “make our beliefs law” and “urge certain kinds of behavior.”
Fox News Digital said Harris helped write the bill, and Harris laughed when they said the National Rifle Association would probably be upset about it. She said that the gun groups would probably be against it.
Newsom finally signed into law a law that made it illegal to own or sell guns on city land. The law also said that people had to store their guns in locked containers or use trigger locks, and gun sellers had to give police inventory reports every six months.
Newsom said that City Hall now has the “strictest anti-gun rules in the land.”
Alan Gottlieb, who started the Second Amendment Foundation, said to the Fog City Journal at the time, “Everyone has a right to self-defense. It seems like the mayor is taking away people’s right to self-defense.”
This week, the video of Harris making threats against Americans’ locked houses went viral.
The NRA said in a tweet, “Kamala Harris wants to take away a lot of guns, and she’s ready to arm the government to break into your home and take your legally owned guns.”
Tucker Carlson wrote on Twitter, “This is clearly totalitarian. This is the end if we don’t fight it.”
