Jesus Was Not a Socialist

This meme encapsulates a point the American left has been trying to make for decades, and have continued to be unsuccessful.

Because the Bible describes Jesus helping the poor, feeding the hungry, and curing the sick at no charge, liberals often allege conservative Christians are hypocritical in their beliefs. This sentiment merely reveals just how little most liberals understand about the Christian faith, and the miracles described in Scripture.

First of all, it should be noted that no where in the New Testament does it say that Christ supported massive government programs to replace what he made the choice to do himself. Instead, he is shown calling on individuals to take action themselves, rather than compel the rich to do this for them through taxation or other means.

Truthfully, Jesus of Nazareth doesn’t seem to espouse much of an ideology — besides perhaps his support for the Israalites during Roman occupation. But even considering this, Christ cautions his Disciples to separate their spiritual lives from their political ones, evidenced by the quote below:

“Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”
