If you want an easy way to explain red flag gun laws to someone, this meme works perfectly. Red flag laws allow any malicious person you’ve ever known to send a SWAT team to your home and take your guns away, even though you haven’t been accused of a crime. All they have to do is tell a judge that they’re “worried” you’re going to hurt yourself, and here come the cops to ruin your life.
Republicans and Democrats in Congress are trying to incentivize states to pass red flag laws at the local level (because they’re unconstitutional at the federal level). We already know that red flag laws are dangerous. They’ve gotten people killed in states that have red flag laws in effect.
One poor guy in Maryland was killed by police in a pre-dawn raid, after his ex-wife convinced a court that he was a danger to himself. He tried to argue with the cops when they showed up, and now he’s dead.
That’s a red flag law in a nutshell. In a best-case scenario, you would just lose your gun. In a worst-case scenario, you get killed in a shootout with the cops because a malicious co-worker or ex-spouse red flagged you.
I think all these smarty-pants Republicans who’ve sold us out have forgotten who I they’re supposed to work for. We, the constituents, donated our money and gave our votes to candidates who professed an agenda and beliefs that mirror ours. Based on those things we the constituents chose you to represent us since we can’t sit in Congress to represent ourselves. You were elected to vote the way WE would vote if we were present during those votes. Instead you get in office and decide you have the right to change your minds about representing our views. You decide you have our permission to toss out OUR opinions and vote your conscience. Funny you never mentioned this idea of voting your conscience as opposed to those of the people you are paid to represent when you were taking our campaign money and begging us to put our trust in you to be faithful to the people who made it possible for you to ‘serve’ yourselves and your own selfishness. It’s no wonder so many voters don’t even bother to vote. It’s actually a farce and foolish for us to believe in your promise to put us and our country first. I sometimes feel like dropping out myself. You’re all a bunch of liars who can’t be trusted to keep your word. You break your promise to we the people and you toss your promise to uphold our constitution. You aren’t democrats; yet you cater to them and cozy up with them to betray each and every voter who trusted you to represent them. You all make me so sick! You’re actually joining them in selling us out to the globalists. Any of us who don’t agree you don’t care if they just kill us. My God! Where are your ethics?? How do you claim to be freedom loving people while you round us up and take away our means of fighting back against our looming slavery? So you’re all lucky enough to not be in a reelection year so you don’t have to worry about being booted this year. That traitor McConnell saw to that safety measure for you. But the time will come when all of you including McConnell himself will be vulnerable again. And trust me there are many like me who regret ever giving one dime or one vote to people who intended to one day stab us in the back. Consider yourselves fired. As far as I’m concerned you are. You just don’t know when or where it will become official.
