Robert De Niro, a well-known actor, and father of seven children, has returned to publicly criticizing Donald Trump, labeling those who favor him “insane” at a news conference this week at the Cannes Film Festival.
Furthermore, De Niro compared Trump to the deadly villain in Martin Scorsese’s film Killers of the Flower Moon. De Niro portrays William Hale in the new film, which had its global debut this past weekend at Cannes. Hale was a cattle magnate who was found guilty in 1929 of killing a member of the Osage tribe in exchange for oil rights.
Reporters were informed by the actor that evil continues to exist in the world and that former President Trump is an example of it.
“Of course, we can see it now. We all know about the person I’m about to speak about, but I won’t use his name since he is a moron. Consider yourself clever. Hale had a lot of intelligence. The frightening aspect about it is that it’s a systematic issue.”
He allegedly said later: “Look, with Trump, there are still those who believe he can do something worthwhile. Consider how absurd that is.”
Killers of the Flower Moon, which Paramount and Apple jointly funded, will premiere in theaters in October before making an unspecified streaming debut on Apple TV+.
Based on David Grann’s non-fiction bestselling book, the film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Lilly Gladstone, tells the story of the Osage Indians who were killed in Oklahoma in the 1920s as they were fighting for ownership of their oil rights.
Robert De Niro regularly voiced his personal animosity against the president throughout the Trump administration, usually using foul language.
The actor repeatedly screamed “Fuck Trump!” on stage at the 2018 Tony Awards, according to Breitbart News. The crowd applauded him rising up after his furious tirade.
