Leave it up to the most horrific presidential candidate in modern American history to eat her words as quickly as she spewed them.
In the immediate aftermath of Americans waking up to find over 50 innocent people were killed during a mass shooting at a country music festival in Las Vegas, the defeated Democrat took to Twitter to call for a pause in playing politics.
The very same day, Clinton wrote a series of tweets which were explicitly political, including this ignorant call to ban “silencers” which the National Rifle Association allegedly supports every American owning.
First of all, “silencers” don’t actually exist outside of James Bond movies. Suppressors, the attachments which are applied to the end of a firearm’s barrel, are made to reduce hearing damage for the operator — not for some sort of tactical advantage. This also hardly reduces the volume of gun shots. Of course, anyone who has fired a weapon knows exactly how loud they are, even with suppressors attached.
Overall, Hillary Clinton’s statement here reeks of ignorance. Not only does it immediately politicize a tragic event which just took place, it spreads blatant falsehoods about firearms.
