Elon Musk isn’t letting the left question his patriotism without a fight. After The View’s Joy Behar and other critics tried to smear him as a “foreign agent”, Musk fired back with his signature bluntness, calling them “talking puppets” and reminding everyone that he is, in fact, a proud American citizen.
For weeks, Democrats and media elites have been panicking over Musk’s role in Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has already fired or restructured over 275,000 federal workers in a historic purge of government waste. Now, instead of arguing about the impact of these cuts, the left is desperately trying to make Musk’s citizenship a political issue.
Behar, known for her fact-free rants, claimed Musk was “pro-apartheid” and an enemy of the state—only to awkwardly walk back her comments later in the same segment, admitting she had no proof. But the damage was done.
Musk’s sharp response on X—“They are just talking puppets. This is their puppet master.”—shut down the smear campaign immediately. He also posted a brutal AI-generated takedown of The View, which perfectly summed up the show’s predictable left-wing bias.

The attacks didn’t stop with Behar. Democrat Rep. Marcy Kaptur questioned Musk’s loyalty to America, whining that he has only been a citizen for 22 years and holds Canadian and South African citizenship. Liz Cheney jumped in too, snidely remarking that Musk wasn’t even an American when the U.S. won the Cold War.
Here’s what the left refuses to admit: Musk CHOSE to become an American, and he has done more to advance American innovation, job creation, and free speech than any of his critics ever will.
Trump’s administration isn’t phased by the attacks. Harrison Fields, a special assistant to the president, fired off a statement putting Behar in her place: “Elon Musk has done more to improve the lives of Americans in four weeks than Joy Behar has done in her entire life.”
Meanwhile, the real source of Democrat outrage isn’t Musk’s citizenship—it’s his effectiveness. DOGE has slashed USAID by over 90%, recalling thousands of useless bureaucrats and putting an end to unchecked foreign aid spending. These changes are why the left is attacking Musk—they can’t stand that he’s actually getting results.
This isn’t about loyalty. It’s about power. The elites are losing their grip, and Trump and Musk are making sure of it.
