Elon Musk mocked Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom after the latter uploaded a video commercial with a distorted speech directed at Vice President Kamala Harris.
In the video, a voice that sounds similar to Harris’s delivers a series of talking points intended to mock her political background.
This is the very last straw.
“The video asserts that I, Kamala Harris, am the Democratic nominee for president, following Joe Biden’s admission of senility during the debate.” “You’re both sexist and racist if you criticize anything I say because I am the ideal diversity hire—I’m a woman and a person of color!”
Newsom responded by saying we should outlaw voice-manipulated advertisements.
“It ought to be illegal to manipulate a voice in an “ad” like this one. “I’ll be signing a bill to ensure that it is in a few weeks,” he wrote on X, the website that was once known as Twitter.
In response, Musk made fun of Newsom by using a well-known slur.
He replied from his official X account, “I checked with a famous international expert, Professor Suggon Deeznutz, and he claimed parody is legal in America.”
The video garnered almost 19 million views after Musk and Newsom amplified it.
Musk, the owner of X, came under fire from others for uploading the video with altered audio, which seemed to go against the platform’s usage guidelines.
Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota retorted, “If @elonmusk and X let this go and don’t label it as changed AI content, they will not only be violating X’s own rules, they will be unleashing a whole election season of fake AI altered content with no limits, regardless of party.”
Prior to the passage of a bill prohibiting schools from alerting parents about changes in their children’s gender and sexual orientation choices, Musk had attacked California Democrats. The billionaire announced that he would be relocating his businesses, X and Starlink, from California to Texas due to the contentious law.
“This law, along with several others before it, targets families and businesses,” Musk said. “This is the last straw.”
