Do we Really Need “Diversity Hires” for EVERYTHING?

This is sort of like an all-star championship meme! Nice going, meme world! If you enjoy memes on the web at all, you probably recognize at least a few of these United Airlines passengers.

United Airlines announced this week that it had a diversity problem – a BIG one. As a result, United will strive to change its hiring practices so that 50% of its pilots going forward will be women or minorities.
You might be thinking, “Huh?!”

Was there some sort of big problem in which United Airlines planes were falling out of the sky because their pilots were not diverse enough?

Actually, no.

So, why the big woke push to suddenly change their standards so that United will hire half of its new pilots based on skin color? Shouldn’t “not smashing the plane into the side of a mountain” be a more important hiring standard?

Not anymore! Which has a lot of people kind of concerned. It’s so concerning that we’re starting to see memes like this one, in which every passenger is actually pretty nervous about whether they got one of the good pilots, or one of the diversity hires.
