We just witnessed one of the most bizarre things ever in the Supreme Court nomination hearings in the US Senate this year. Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), a person who quite possibly ate lead paint when she was a child, attacked Judge Amy Coney Barrett over a common phrase she used. And to help Hirono out, Webster’s Dictionary went online and changed the definition of a word.
How crazy is that?
Hirono, who is the only US Senator capable of losing a game of chess to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, attacked Judge Barrett for using the term, “sexual preference.” Hirono claims that the term is a bigoted word of bigotry, only used by small-minded bigots who walk around bigoting others all day long.
As this meme notes, Webster’ Dictionary suddenly went online to their website and took a big old eraser to the word “preference.” They literally changed the definition of the word based on Mazie Hirono’s attack on Judge Barrett.
Which is pretty hilarious, considering that you can find quotes from dozens of prominent Democrats who used the term “sexual preference” in speeches, right up until the day before Hirono decided it meant something different.
