Dems Are Bringing Back Masks, Here’s Why You Might Agree

The wildfires ripping through Los Angeles are yet another reminder of the left’s failure to manage even the most basic aspects of governance. Southern California’s air quality has plummeted thanks to the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires, leaving residents choking on smoke while city officials scramble to issue advisories like “keep your windows shut” and “wear a mask.” Brilliant. That’s the kind of proactive leadership Los Angeles is known for—reactive platitudes and virtue-signaling instead of solutions.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has issued warnings about smoke, windblown dust, and ash, offering helpful tips like “avoid physical activity” and “run your air conditioning.” Because in a city where blackouts and power shortages are a seasonal tradition, everyone’s definitely running their AC without a hitch. Mayor Karen Bass, a Democrat who’s still trying to figure out if she governs a city or a woke Twitter account, urged residents to stay indoors and wear “a properly fit mask.” One can almost hear the eye rolls of millions of Californians stuck indoors, peering out at a blood-red sky.

According to the EPA’s AirNow map, most of Los Angeles County has air quality that ranges from “subpar” to “unhealthy.” Areas closest to the fires are in the red zone, while the rest of the city languishes in the yellow zone. Meanwhile, atmospheric scientist Matthew Cappucci’s analysis describes a “bull’s eye of hazardous air directly over the nation’s second-largest city.” In other words, California’s green policies and forest mismanagement are once again creating the kind of environmental disaster Democrats love to blame on everyone but themselves.

This isn’t a natural disaster; it’s a man-made crisis. For decades, California has ignored the need for proper forest management, opting instead for endless red tape, environmental posturing, and a refusal to remove deadwood that acts as kindling for these infernos. But hey, at least they’re cutting emissions by banning gas-powered cars, right? Nothing says “we’ve got our priorities straight” like mandating electric vehicles while your citizens can’t breathe.

Conservatives have been warning about this for years. Manage the forests, clear the deadwood, and invest in firebreaks. It’s not rocket science; it’s common sense. But Democrats would rather push climate change fear-mongering than fix the real, tangible issues plaguing their state. This is what happens when you put ideology over practicality.

So while Los Angeles residents are left to suffocate in the ashes of progressive incompetence, the rest of the country watches and wonders: When will Californians finally wake up and demand leaders who care more about results than rhetoric? Until then, it’s just another smoky day in paradise.
