Dear Millennials: Stop Blaming Boomers for All of Your Problems

Here, we have two columns comparing alleged crimes against humanity based on generation, with the implication that millennials are of course harmless while boomers are single-handedly responsible for destroying the planet.

Seeing as this meme comes from left-field, there is a lot of irony to unpack from the first column. After all, millennials killing chain restaurants, golf courses, and paper napkins is purely an act of capitalism that required no government regulation to speak of. So, go free market!

The second column is a bit more complicated. Firstly, polar bear populations are actually increasing despite leftist hype, so we can actually discard that entirely. As for the housing market and the economy (let’s just assume the content creator is referring to the 2007-2008 recession), it’s not entirely inaccurate to say that boomers were involved — but it doesn’t tell the whole story.

The problems identified in the second column are the result of government. The housing crisis began with calls from a Democratic House to force banks to give loans to low-income families, which had a direct effect on the subsequent recession.
