If there was some sort of award for “most dishonest memes of 2017”, this image is easily an early frontrunner.
According to this image, shared around just about every left-of-center page on Facebook and Reddit, far-left terror organization Antifa has a far more specific criterion for silencing and disrupting individuals than modern-day Nazis do.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
With the exception of Richard Spencer, who has actually expressed white nationalist views, Antifa has moved to silence just about everyone to the right of itself. This is evidenced by their threats against Ben Shapiro, a ‘Never Trump’ conservative who obviously identifies as an Orthodox Jew — not exactly Nazi material.
Other right-wing activists that have been targeted by Antifa rioters and their sympathizers include YouTube personalities Mike Cernovich and Lauren Southern, both of whom have condemned Nazis in their broadcasts.
The reality is that Antifa is less of an activism movement as much as it is simply an anti-First Amendment movement. Even when they are opposed by actual white supremacists like Spencer, radical views do not justify any degree of violence outside of self-defense. That is how a civilized country handles political discourse.
