Some people are now saying they will not buy Coca-Cola anymore because the company won’t let people put “Trump 2024” or “Jesus” on the cans.
Messages like “Trump 2024” or “Jesus loves you” were “not accepted” when people tried to personalize cans, according to the Daily Mail. Messages like “Satan,” “Harris Walz 2024,” and “Allah” were, however, allowed.
The news source says that messages backing Satan, Kamala Harris, and Allah were available before the company fixed a “glitch.”
The Libs of TikTok X account shared pictures of a can that said “Harris Walz 2024.” That message was approved, but when it was changed to “Trump 2024,” it got a message saying “The name you asked is not approved.”
The company said in the message, “Names and sentences may not be accepted if they are trademarked, political, the names of nations, celebrities, religious figures, or anything else that could be seen as insulting.”
In a post on X, comic Tim Young said, “Coca-Cola won’t let you name a can with ‘Jesus,’ but they do let you with Satan and Allah. What makes them different from Christians?”
“Is it time for Coke to become like Bud Light?” someone else asked in a post on X.
Someone else wrote on X, “Sounds like a Boycott is in order.”
People quickly posted pictures that showed messages for Harris, Satan, and Allah got the same messages as messages for Trump 2024 and Jesus.
Atwoine Hill was the first person to report the problem, which, according to the news source, has been “circulated widely” since the Libs of TikTok brought it to the company’s attention.
Hill talked about how “at the Coke shop” you could brand the cans with “Allah loves you,” but not Jesus, in a Facebook video.
