CNN Makes A Big Announcement That Could Shakeup The Election

After being let go during CNN’s rebuild phase two years ago, Brian Stelter will be going back to his home network as a “Chief Media Analyst.”

Stelter said this week that he will be coming back to the network and will be in charge of the Reliable Sources magazine.

“I’m going back to @CNN with a new job as Chief Media Analyst. I will be on TV, making digital material, and running the Reliable Sources magazine again,” he wrote.

Later in the chat, Stelter talked about how his view of the media had changed and promised to be “different.”

“I’m going back to CNN with a new point of view. Someone once told me, “Getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me.” I laughed at them, but then it happened to me. I stopped constantly checking the news after more than 20 years of doing it. I tuned out. I was very lucky to have time as a stay-at-home dad. While Sunny and Story were at school, I went through a lot of different roles: Harvard student, BBC talk show host, and magazine writer. I wrote for more than 20 publications and learned about the good and bad sides of being a freelancer. I also got to know the news more like a normal person. This helped me learn a great deal about the information ecology and the attention economy. Because I’m different, this time will be different.”

Brian Stelter left CNN in 2022, when the network was in the middle of a scandal because former president Jeff Zucker quit because he didn’t tell anyone about his relationship with Allison Gollust, who was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at CNN.

Stelter told NPR at the time, “It was a rare honor to host a weekly show about the press at a time when it has never been more important.”
