Clarence Thomas Delivers the Pro-Gun Decision He’s Been Waiting His Whole Career For

The Supreme Court struck down New York state’s draconian anti-concealed carry gun law this week. It was one of those rare days when the government lost some of its power to the people. Justice Clarence Thomas authored the 6-3 majority opinion, and it was delivered on his birthday. (By the way, Happy Birthday, Big C!)

New York already required law abiding citizens to jump through a ridiculous number of hoops just to obtain a license to own a gun. To get a concealed carry permit, New Yorkers had to prove to the government that they had some sort of special circumstance that puts them in danger.

This obviously put concealed carry rights out of the reach of most people. You couldn’t just want to carry a concealed pistol because you felt like it or because you’re an American. You had to beg the government and convince them to let you exercise a constitutional right.

That’s the rule that the Supreme Court struck down. It affects New York, California, Massachusetts, and four other states. It was a great day for civil liberties, and for Justice Thomas. He’d been waiting a number of years for this case to come before him.

  1. Protection of the U.S. Constitution is the JOB of the SCOTUS & the justices. ” Shall NOT be infringed” means just that.
Thomas did the job he swore an oath to do. ( UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION) ALL Judges & Justices swear the same oath as does our elected officials. Thomas should be a shining example to them as to what their OATH requires of them. GOD bless Justice Thomas!

  2. Anyone who carry’s a concealed carry permit, should not have to worry crossing state lines that does not recognize your right to carry, to be able to legally carry their personal weapon. PERIOD!!!

  3. It’s about time. Our Constitution gives us citizens the right to have guns without interference from the govt. To me, that means the govt shouldn’t even be asking us if we own a gun let along having to register it while the govt back checks us for anything they can use to not let us buy a gun. The govt is interfering with us owning a gun and they shouldn’t be. They shouldn’t be making a list of the guns you own, period, no interference means no interference. During WWI and WWII our enemy/enemies couldn’t understand why our military had men who already knew how to shoot a gun and practically every soldier, etc. had good aim. Their population was not allowed to have guns, only the govt military could while our American population always had guns. We won both wars because of the speed we had to get into the wars and get over to Europe and Asia with men already to fight after physical training and for those who needed it, gun training. We won our fight with King George for to be a free country because our population was tough building a new country with guns. Literally every man and woman and children could fight. The first thing King George’s army did was to get their hands on any guns in our homes. Our founders knew our ability to build a military with gun using men, women and children was the way we stay free having the power to protect ourselves and our families without interference from the govt. Our founding men were not afraid with a govt whose citizens could defend themselves, they were afraid our citizens could not defend ourselves against a govt dictatorship.
