Following an upsurge in cases of the most recent subvariant, the Biden White House declared on Wednesday that the COVID public health emergency will be extended for a another 90 days.
The declaration extends the state of public health emergency until April, making it the twelfth extension since President Donald Trump initially established it in 2020. As a result, millions of Americans will continue to be eligible for Medicaid services.
State officials and healthcare executives will receive a 60-day notice from Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra before the measure expires.
When the extension ends, millions of Americans could lose their Medicaid health coverage. Since the policy’s inception, there are now 24 million more Americans enrolled. According to a recent survey, Medicaid enrollment is anticipated to reach the 100 million milestone soon, The Daily Wire previously reported.
The renewal takes place because, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, subvariant XBB.1.5 accounts for more than 70% of COVID cases in the Northeast and 28% nationwide. As of Jan. 4, there were 390 COVID-related deaths every day, with an average of 67,000 positive cases per day.
Nearly 75% of the country’s counties are deemed to be at high risk for community transmission, according to the COVID-19 Integrated County View reporting from the CDC.
More schools and other sites are resuming masks as a result of the rise in coronavirus, flu, and RSV cases. Following an upsurge in infections in Dec., the Ann Arbor Public School system in Michigan reinstated a two-week mask requirement from January 9–20.
“Following winter break,” Superintendent Jeanice Swift noted, “This time of returning from travel and social events, the requirement of masks when indoors at school is a strategy to limit the spread of respiratory infections and related absences and to emphasize health and in school learning.”
In some schools in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, wearing an indoor mask is once again required.
Before returning to school, kids and employees were asked to take a COVID test by other school systems, like Chicago Public Schools.
The message stated, “If you test positive, please use the COVID-19 Self-Reporting Form to submit the positive test and follow the instructions specified on our safety page.”
Dr. Ashish Jha, the director of the White House COVID-19 Response, addressed the emergence of the XBB.1.5 subvariant last week. He expressed alarm about the rise in cases while urging usage of the updated vaccine and other risk-reducing measures.

Now is the time for We, the People, to let the corrupt Biden* administration know, in no uncertain terms, that we are sick and tired of the illegal/unconstitutional mandates regarding COVID and everything else. These progressive socialist Democrats need to be reminded that they work for us–not the other way around. We can do this if we all just refuse to comply. The bureaucrats, regardless of whether they are local, state or federal only have the power we have allowed them and because of our unwillingness to stand up for our rights, they’ve taken advantage. I will continue NOT to wear a mask nor will I get the Covid death shot. Masks can give problems with Bacterial Pneumonia as well as Hypoxia and other Health issues and the Covid-19 shot was not given Informed Consent therefore Violating the Nuremburg Code.
