When asked when inflation rates would return to normal on Tuesday, President Joe Biden expressed skepticism.
“I hope by the end of next year or much sooner,” he remarked when asked by a reporter at the White House when he anticipated prices to return to normal.
“I’m just confident they won’t go up,” he continued.
Biden delivered a victorious address after the consumer price index revealed that prices had only grown 0.1 percent in November and 7.1 percent over the past year.
“Inflation in America is decreasing,” he remarked.
This is the lowest inflation rate since Dec. 2021, when inflation rates spiked after Dems. and Biden approved trillions of dollars in federal spending.
Although the inflation rate has not returned to normal, Biden lauded the gradual decrease as “excellent news for the holiday season.”
“Food inflation dropped last month, delivering much-needed relief at the super market for millions of people,” he said.
While food prices fell by a tenth of a percent overall, food inflation rose from 0.4 percent in Oct. to 0.5 percent in Nov.
Biden admitted that “prices are still high” and that families are still suffering from inflation, but he attempted to project optimism for the future.
“Prices for items such as televisions and toys are falling, which is fantastic news for the holiday season,” he said.
He warned Americans that lowering inflation will take time.
“We should also not be taking anything for granted, but it’s apparent that my economic strategy is working, and we’re only getting started,” he remarked.
