Amnesty Activated! They Want Us To Believe This Is “Temporary’?

For almost 300,000 Haitian nationals living in the US, President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expanded and renamed a temporary amnesty program, guaranteeing their ineligibility for deportation and their ability to work in the country.

About 309,000 Haitian nationals living in the United States who would otherwise be subject to deportation received an extension and redesignation of their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) last week, according to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The announcement demonstrates once more how Biden’s DHS wants to increase TPS greatly. Previously, the program was only open to roughly 165,000 Haitians.

Nearly twice as many Haitian nationals will be able to stay in the United States and work here through February 2026, according to the most recent extension and redesignation, provided they can prove they were there on June 3, 2024.

Mayorkas stated in a statement, “Given the conditions that existed in their home country as of June 3, 2024, we are granting this humanitarian relief to Haitians already present in the United States.” “By doing this, we are acknowledging the primary goal of the TPS legislation and our responsibility to carry it out.”

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1990 (INA) originally established Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to shield citizens of specified war-torn, famine-affected, or natural disaster-affected nations from deportation by federal immigration officials.

Since the Clinton era, the Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, and now Biden administrations have repeatedly extended TPS to a number of countries, effectively turning it into a de facto amnesty program.

Around 900,000 foreign nationals living in the United States currently enjoy protection from deportation after obtaining TPS. Venezuela, Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras, and Ukraine account for the vast majority.
