New York City Mayor Eric Adams dropped a bombshell on Thursday, stunning liberal reporters after his meeting with Trump’s incoming Border Czar, Tom Homan. The topic? The Trump administration’s no-nonsense plan to deport criminal aliens. Adams’ blunt remarks after the meeting left the left-leaning press scrambling for answers.
“We’re not going to be a safe haven for those who commit repeated violent crimes against innocent migrants, immigrants, and long-standing New Yorkers,” Adams declared. It seems even a Democrat mayor like Adams has had enough of the chaos wrought by open-border policies championed by his own party. Maybe the reality of skyrocketing crime and overwhelmed city services is finally sinking in.
Adams praised Homan’s commitment to cracking down on violent offenders, saying, “From what I heard from the incoming head of ICE, we have the same desire to go after those who are committing violent acts, repeated violent acts among innocent New Yorkers and among migration asylum seekers. That’s what I heard from him. And I was pleased to hear that because we share the same desire.”
The mayor didn’t hold back when addressing the room full of liberal reporters either. In a moment that could only be described as pure frustration with the media’s double standards, Adams called out their selective outrage: “We have 500,000 children who had sponsors in this country that we can’t find. We don’t know if they’re doing child labor. We don’t know if they’re doing sex crimes. We don’t know if they’re being exploited—500,000 children. There’s a level of hypocrisy…”

It’s about time someone from the Democratic side of the aisle admitted what conservatives have been shouting for years: open borders lead to crime, exploitation, and human suffering. The same leftists who champion “sanctuary cities” are conveniently silent when innocent lives are ruined or when children disappear into the abyss of exploitation. Adams seems to have had enough of the hypocrisy.
Before wrapping up his press conference, Adams unleashed a parting shot at the press: “I’m going to answer a few questions and then I am leaving because it’s not going to matter what I respond to anyway, you have your preconceived thoughts already.”

Adams may still be a Democrat, but his frustration with his party’s failed policies is palpable. And Trump’s clear-eyed leadership on border security and criminal alien deportation is starting to look like the answer even Democrats can’t ignore. As always, the left will cry foul, but when reality hits hard enough, even the most stubborn liberal ideologues can’t keep up the charade forever.
